In America in the beginning, the performance arts achievements of the young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely place her into the category of child prodigies. This is a natural trait for a girl who was of Irish heritage, that was surrounded during her early days by talented family members and parents. Maureen entered into this nurturing home on August 17, 20th in Ranelagh. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lulburn FitzSimons was a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland. He also owned a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons placed 2nd in the family of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as an infant and was extremely good in them. This passion was combined with an equally natural gift of performing. That was apparent when she won each Feis for theatre and drama which Ireland could offer. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14 She then was able to fulfill her goals of opera and classical singing and theater.
